Gabor Herner has arrived in Beijing China for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Triathlon. Gabor is serving on the Canadian Triathlon Support Staff as the Head Bike Mechanic.

Gillian Carleton, BC Time Trial Champion

Fort Street Cycle employee Gillian Carleton averaged 40.32 km/hr over 36.5 km to win the 2008 Provincial Time Trial Champion in Squamish, BC.

On August 8, 2008 we held our own Olympic Opening Ceremonies. We invited a couple of the Canadian Olympic Triathlon Team members and few of our closest friends for some drink - food - and fun. Congratulations to Team Fort Street Cycle in their efforts at the TOC last weekend. Gillian, Cam, and Gabor, swam biked and ran away from the competition, finishing the sprint Triathlon in 57:10 and taking the mixed team event. Carla came back from a week of holiday to post a very respectable time of 1:07:59 placing her 3rd in the Female 20-29 category. This year’s event has raised over $16,000 for the Women’s Sexual Assault Centre. Way to go athletes and volunteers.

TSN at FSC

Mira Laurence from A Channel interviewed Canadian Olympic Triathlete Simon Whitfield today at Fort Street Cycle. The interview was for TSN. If you look closely you can see one of the special addition Olympic paint jobs on the Soloist Carbon frame in the background. The frames had been shipped to FSC so that Canadian Triathlon Team Mechanic Gabor Herner can build them before he and the athletes head off to Beijing early next month. The frame behind Simon will be ridden by Canadian Triathlete Colin Jenkins.

Bike Fit Simulator

The Kobila from Exit Cycling is the heart and souls of our dynamic bike fitting tools. It gives us the ability to make quick and accurate changes to both the saddle and handle bar height and for/aft positions. Giving our clients the ability to try many bike fit iterations.

Computrainer

The multi-color torque graph represents one full 360° revolution divided into 15° segments. The left/right leg percentage power splits give you the feedback needed to pedal in "circles". It will identify "flat" or "dead" spots in the pedal stroke where optimal power is not transferred to the drive train. A dynamic bike fit utilizing SpinScan is an excellent way to take the subjectivity and guesswork out of the bike fit process. And the ATA (Average Torque Angle) displayed on the Polar Graph helps you adjust your position for optimum power.

DartFish

Dartfish is the most advanced video technology available on the market. With dartfish we are able to record digital video of our client while they ride the bike under normal riding intensities. We can then take these video clips, play them back in real time or in slow motion to analiys body position on the bike. With the ability of slowing down the video it enables us to see the pedal stroke at a much more accurate level. Stopping these videos in key positions we can accurately measure critical body angles and analyis pedaling technique. Dartfish is truly the best way to accurately analyzing your bike position.

If you are new to cycling and don’t yet have shoes, shorts, etc. No problem. Let us know when you book your appointment and we will allow some extra time to help you pick out your cycling gear. If you are new to clipless pedals, during the fitting is the perfect time to learn.
